For Vancouver-South Conservative Member of Parliament Wai Young, visiting Israel was a transformative experience. This past summer, Ms. Young joined a group of fellow MP’s and young Jewish leaders on a CIJA educational mission to Israel. This past Sunday, Ms. Young discussed her experiences in Israel with more than 30 Vancouver lay leaders at a CIJA-Pacific Region sponsored town hall meeting. During her week-long visit to the Jewish state Ms. Young met with Israeli leaders from all sides of the political spectrum, Middle East and security experts, and Palestinian representatives. Ms. Young told the assembled group that her personal support for Israel is based on the “values shared by Canada and Israel,” as well as the importance of Canada’s alliance with the only democracy in the region. Ms. Young spoke passionately about the importance of Jewish and pro-Israel Canadians educating their Member’s of Parliament about the critical issues, and appreciated the opportunity to do so with her Vancouver constituents.
