Joannie Tansky

my picJoannie Henya Tansky was born in Montreal Canada where she still resides.  She came to Judaism late in life when, at forty, she realized her then-teenage children were losing their rich heritage and were also at risk of losing their spiritual connection.

With the unswerving support of her husband, she embarked on a journey that brought beauty and purpose into the family home and into the lives of her loved ones.  Most of all, she found a woman’s way of connecting to G-d.

She began writing more than eighteen years ago, reflecting on her life as a baal teshuva. Through the years, she honed her writing skills and was creator and editor of the Mosaic Magazine, a Chabad publication for more than seventeen years. She serves on the lay board of the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) and works part-time in Beth Rivkah Academy in Montreal.

She has written a book entitled Girl Meets G-d, the Gift of Being a Jewish Woman, published by Urim. She is currently writing a cookbook entitled Shabbos Recipes Unraveled!, which will be published both as an e-book and hardcover.
