Berl Nadler, a member of CIJA’s Board of Directors and chair of its Governance Committee, is a partner of the law firm of Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP, where he conducts a wide-ranging business law practice in its Toronto office. Prior to joining Davies, Berl worked as a lawyer for the Canadian Department of Justice in Ottawa and Shearman & Sterling in New York City. In addition to his law practice, Berl is an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School and has published numerous papers, articles and book chapters on various legal subjects. He is also a frequent speaker on a wide range of business law topics at professional and academic conferences and seminars.
Berl has been an active member of the Canadian and Toronto Jewish communities, having served as President of the B’nei Akiva Schools of Toronto, Chairman of the Board of Shaarei Shomayim Congregation, and a member of the Board and various Board committees of UJA Federation of Greater Toronto. He currently serves as Co-chair of CIJA’s Council in Toronto. On the national level, Berl served as a member of the Boards of CIJA’s predecessors, the Canada-Israel Committee, where he was a member of its Executive Committee; and the Canadian Jewish Congress, where he was a Vice Chair of the Ontario Region.
Berl is a graduate of the Faculty of Law, McGill University (B.C.L., LL.B.) and the Harvard Law School (LL.M.).
