Jonathan Schneiderman is Vice President, Development and Public Affairs at CIJA and serves as the organization’s primary link to the Liberal Party of Canada. He also serves as Director of the Larry and Judy Tanenbaum Family Foundation.
Jonathan has been active in Canadian Politics for over 30 years. As a student he served as the National President of the Young Liberals of Canada, the official youth wing of the Liberal Party of Canada. In the previous Liberal Government he served as a Senior Advisor to the Foreign Minister of Canada on Middle East Affairs and Canada-US Relations. He also served as a Special Assistant to former Prime Minister Paul Martin.
Jonathan has been very active in Jewish Community affairs in Canada and has served on the Executive of Canadian Jewish Congress, B’nai Brith Canada and as a Director of the Canada-Israel-Committee.
He served as President of Congregation Shaar Hashomayim in Montreal – Quebec’s largest Jewish Congregation. He also served as President of the Akiva School in Montreal, a school recognized as a “lead school” by the Ministry of Education of Quebec. Mr. Schneiderman has served on the Finance Committee of the Jewish General Hospital and on the Board of the Association of Jewish Day schools.
Jonathan received his Undergraduate Degree at the University of Ottawa and pursued Graduate Studies at Concordia University. He is married to Shelley Simons and they have three children, Zachary 23, Erica 21 and Dahlia 16.
