Toronto, ON – The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) is appalled that anti-Israel activists are attempting to organize a demonstration outside the Toronto office of B’nai Brith Canada, supposedly to protest the group’s criticism of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW).
CIJA CEO Shimon Koffler Fogel issued the following:
“It is appalling and offensive that anti-Israel activists have chosen to picket the office of B’nai Brith Canada. The organizers’ choice of location is disturbing and exposes how those who target Israel are no less hostile to Jewish Canadian groups. We will not be silent when a Jewish community organization is targeted in this way, and we have shared our concerns with Toronto Police.
“We note that the protest leaders – who have so far failed to gather more than one confirmed attendee on Facebook – have reportedly used CUPW’s name and flag to promote this toxic event without the union’s consent or knowledge. This speaks volumes about how those behind this protest are marginal, ineffectual, and disorganized.”
