Press Release: CIJA Postpones Words & Deeds Leadership Award Dinner
Montreal, QC— The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) announced today that it is postponing the Words & Deeds Leadership Award Dinner honouring France Chrétien Desmarais and André Desmarais.
CIJA will reschedule the gala event, originally planned for June 2, 2020 in Montreal, as soon as possible. It is looking at dates in the autumn and will announce a new date as soon as the situation allows.
CIJA National Co-Chair Joel Reitman issued the following:
“After consultation with local authorities, it is clear that combating the COVID-19 pandemic requires a comprehensive approach. These circumstances demand that we postpone the Words & Deeds Leadership Award Dinner.”
CIJA National Co-Chair Jeff Rosenthal added:
“Our thoughts are with those affected by the virus. We hope that they recover quickly and remain safe during this difficult time. The situation impacts all of us, and we wish our fellow citizens well as we fight the spread of this virus together.”
Words & Deeds Committee Chair Jonathan Goldbloom added:
“We look forward to honouring France and André Desmarais in the autumn. They are truly worthy honourees. We will announce a new date as soon as the situation allows. In the meantime, we are joining the collective effort to do what we can to limit the spread of COVID-19.”
