CIJA extends best wishes to our friends in the Coptic Christian community as they celebrate Nayrouz, a day that signals the beginning of the Coptic calendar and commemorates those who were persecuted in Egypt because of their faith.
As we join with Coptic Christians around the world to mark this day, we remember the many thousands of Coptic Christians and Christians across the Middle East who are being persecuted for their faith today. Discriminatory laws and ongoing targeted terrorists attacks in Egypt have increasingly put the future of the Coptic community in question.
Today, and always, CIJA, and the Jewish community across Canada, stands in solidarity with the Coptic community and Christians across the Middle East.
