Joel Reitman is the founder and president (since 1994) of Jillcy Investments Ltd., a global investment firm. Additionally, he co-founded advertising company MIJO Corporation and served as its president and CEO from 1978 until March 2011, when the firm was sold to DG Fast Channel (Dallas, TX).
Joel is an active volunteer in the Jewish community and beyond. He has a long history of involvement with the Canadian Jewish Political Affairs Committee (CJPAC), having served as a board member since CJPAC’s inception in 2005, the National Chair from 2009-2011, and the Immediate Past Chair since 2011. Additionally, he has been a member of the United Israel Appeal (UIA) Executive since 2011 and of UIA’s board since 2006 and a board member of CIJA since 2011. Most recently, Joel has just taken on the responsibility of being co-chair of the local partnership committee (LPC) for the Toronto Jewish Federation and CIJA. Joel currently serves on the Mount Sinai Foundation Board as well as the Mount Sinai hospital board. Additionally, Joel is a co-founder of The Cyril & Dorothy, Joel & Jill Reitman Centre for Alzheimer’s Support and Training (2009 to present). Since 2009, he has also been a member of the advisory board of the Montreal Neurological Hospital. Joel is also a member of the steering committee for the Toronto Western Hospital, Tanz Centre.
Joel has also been a member of the Canadian Motion Picture Pioneers since 1983 and of the World Presidents Organization since 2005, prior to which he was a member of the Young Presidents Organization (1996-2005).
Joel received his Bachelor of Science and Educational Communication from Ithaca College. He is a graduate of Cushing Academy (Ashburnham, MA).
Joel’s wife Jill (a psychologist) is also active in the Jewish community and they have two sons, Sam and Richard.
