Giveon Cornfield was born in Montreal in 1926, but he was raised in what would later be called Israel. During WWII, Giveon served in the Haganah and the Royal Air Force (RAF). He also served in the Israel Defense Force (IDF) during Israel’s War of Independence. After the War, he returned to Montreal.
Together with his wife, Marion (a former Irgun officer), Giveon founded Baroque Records (Canada), later incorporated into Orion Master Recordings in the USA, and produced over 800 albums of classical music.
Giveon and his wife are proud grandparents and have two children – a son, who lives in Toronto and a daughter, living in California.
Today, he and his wife are retired, living in Hawaii. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
