The United Nations had appointed legal experts from 14 countries to the “International Court of Justice” to pass judgment on Israel’s antiterrorist fence. The hypocrisy behind this so-called “Court” is giving kangaroos a bad name, since this is the same United Nations whose Security Council has excluded Israel, yet has been chaired by peace-loving countries such as Libya and Syria. Other countries chosen to provide “experts” include China (remember Tiananmen Square?) and Russia, with its centuries-old tradition of violent antisemitism. France, Belgium and the Netherlands, hosts to this nefarious scheme, maintain their pro-Palestinian status as do Britain and Japan. Applauding from the sidelines are justices from Slovakia, Sierra Leone and Venezuela and, to add insult to injury, a German(!) jurist was included in the panel. Not in a thousand years can that nation earn enough moral points to pass judgment on Israel’s right to defend itself.
This is the same UN that had erected a fence to separate Turks and Greek-Cypriots. Turkey has also fenced and mined 500 miles of its disputed border with Syria in order to keep out Kurdish insurgents. No one at the U.N. is questioning the 12 ft.-high fence between India and Kashmir, nor the miles of a 10-ft. barrier between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
By this action in The Hague, the U.N. had reached a nadir. It has outlived its usefulness. Overrun by 150 third-world countries, it is finished, kaput. Left unimpeded, the dictatorships of Iran and North Korea are acquiring nuclear weapons, or have already done so. A wise Gary Kasparov stated (‘way back in 1964!) that “giving authority to the United Nations practically guarantees that the problem will only get worse…The obsolete U.N. needs to be replaced by an international body built on the foundation of Western values, one that will not welcome those who sponsor terrorism and deny basic human rights to their citizens.”
